Albion's FA Cup opponents Bournemouth have signed Dominic Solanke from Liverpool for £19 million.

Tomorrow's third round hosts have swooped to add the England under-21 striker to their options, with Jermain Defo heading to Glasgow Rangers on a long-term loan.

The Argus confirmed last week that Solanke is a player Albion like and they have been tracking his progress.

He looked like joining Crystal Palace on loan earlier this week, but that move collapsed with Palace citing concerns over his fitness.

The 21-year-old, hampered by a muscle injury recently, is said to be close to a return to action and has agreed a long-term contract with Bournemouth.

Although ex-Chelsea prospect Solanke is admired both by manager Chris Hughton and incoming technical director Dan Ashworth, Albion are understood to be relaxed about their choices in attack with Jurgen Locadia hitting form, operating to the left of Glenn Murray or Florin Andone.

Solanke will be joined at Bournemouth by Liverpool team-mate Nathaniel Clyne, who is moving to the Cherries on loan for the rest of the season.
