ALBION are poised to face a makeshift centre-back partnership against Liverpool as they try to stretch their free-scoring record at the Amex.

Former Seagulls target Virgil van Dijk is the only fit central defender available for Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League pacesetters ahead of Saturday’s clash at the Amex.

Dejan Lovren (hamstring) joined Joe Gomez and Joel Matip on the injury list in Monday’s FA Cup exit at Wolves.

Brazilian Fabinho was used as a makeshift centre-back by Klopp in a much-changed line-up at Molineux.

He is likely to continue in the role alongside van Dijk against Albion, although Gini Wijnaldum was switched to centre-half when Liverpool won 5-1 at the Amex last season.

Albion have scored at least once in their last 13 home matches in the Premier League. Mo Salah, who grabbed the only goal when the teams net at Anfield in August, has an eventful build-up to Saturday’s clash.

The 16-goal Egyptian star, brought off the bench at Wolves, was in Senegal last night for the African player of the year award and is in the United Arab Emirates today to collect the prize of outstanding Arab athlete.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Ki-Jana Hoever, who took over from Lovren from the early stages at Wolves, is likely to play for Liverpool under-23s at home to Albion on Monday evening (7pm).
