Boss Chris Hughton says he felt for Pascal Gross after the German gave away the penalty which cost Albion against leaders Liverpool at the Amex.
Gross was one-on-one with Salah inside the box when the Egyptian twisted and turned and had his shirt pulled.
Hughton said: "I feel for Pascal. Mo Salah is probably the most difficult player in that position one-on-one. No complaints."
Hughton was less impressed by other decisions made by referee Kevin Friend during the match as Albion made Liverpool work hard for the points.
"I thought it favoured Liverpool on the balance of decisions he made," Hughton said.
"We had to defend very well against a few of their moments. I thought we had a couple of good opportunities. We gave Liverpool a very good, hard-fought game.
"If you play open and expansive against these you go 2-0 down or 3-0 down. I thought the tactics were right against the best team in the country."
