Chris Hughton says winning at Manchester United is on his managerial bucket list.

The Albion boss has suffered on previous visits to Old Trafford with the Seagulls, Norwich and Newcastle.

His sides have been beaten all five times in all competitions without scoring, conceding a total of 14 goals.

The closest he has come was last season’s 1-0 defeat for Albion in the Premier League.

Asked if an Old Trafford victory is on his bucket list, Hughton said: “Yes - and it has to be. We have won against the top six teams at home.

“But a win away at United, City, Liverpool, Tottenham, or Arsenal, they are big big wins because you are not expected to get them.

“At the start of the season when you look at the fixture list there is nowhere where you would say you are going but can’t get a result.

“But you know there are places where it’s very, very difficult - especially when they are in form.

“So, do they come much bigger than this?

“No, not at the moment because they are a team that are playing as well as anybody right now.

“To get a result there for us would be a huge result.”

Albion beat United at the Amex at the end of last season and beginning of this season when Jose Mourinho was in charge. United are aiming for a seventh straight win today under Mourinho’s successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while the Seagulls are as long as 12-1 to spring a shock which would reverberate around the country.

Hughton said: “It would be a good moment if we were able to do it. That goes without saying.

“The rest you don’t think about. It’s not as though we haven’t had big moments.

“We’ve picked up some big results since we’ve been in this division.

“But they are very short lived because ultimately there is bigger news the next day.

“What is hugely important to us is not of the highest of importance to a lot of other people.

“But they are moments you fight hard for and the big results you work hard to try and get “I don’t think there will be too many people who fancy us to get a result at Old Trafford.

“Anything that goes against the odds is fabulous for us.”
