Here are the first pictures of Chris Eubank Junior working with new trainer Nate Vasquez ahead of his showdown with James DeGale.

Vasquez has been brought in specifically to help Eubank Jr prepare for the February 23 showdown at the O2 with bitter rival and former two-time IBF world champion DeGale.

Las Vegas-based Vasquez is working alongside the experienced Ronnie Davies, the integral camp member who formerly trained Chris Eubank senior and continues to oversee Eubank Jr's preparations at the Brighton and Hove gym.

It is a sea change in Brighton fighter Eubank Jr's preparations, though, as he has been widely criticised in the past for saying he does not need a trainer to tell him what to do.

The most recent defeat to George Groves in the World Boxing Super Series semi-finals has convinced Eubank Jr he needed to make a change and has reunited with Vasquez, who he worked with at Floyd Mayweather’s Las Vegas gym last year.

Vasquez has worked with a number of prospects at Mayweather’s TMT outfit, including super-middleweight Kevin Newman II and former WBC World flyweight title challenger Muhammad Waseem.

“Training is going great with Nate and I feel that I’m learning and improving all the time, he’s brought a new dimension into my camp that I’ve probably needed,” said Eubank Jr, who is hosting the Mexican in his home along with a hand-picked sparring partner.

“I certainly don’t regret anything I’ve done or what’s happened in my career, everything happens for reason and I’m my own man and shape my own destiny, but this is a big fight coming up and I felt a change was necessary so I’m happy to have Nate in the team.

“I enjoy working with Nate and we got on well together when I met him in Las Vegas last summer and we have good chemistry.

"The things he was saying and telling me made sense and I feel they will make a big difference in the outcome of my fight against DeGale.

“He works alongside my long-time trainer Ronnie who oversees my preparations and I use his boxing wisdom and experience all the time.

"I believe that I have a great team around me now with a blend of youth, energy and knowledge that will take me to victory against DeGale.”

The super-middleweight non-title fight will be exclusively shown live on ITV Box Office.
