Albion keeper Mathew Ryan performed penalty heroics again to send Australia through to the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup.
Ryan was the hero for the Socceroos with two saves in the shoot-out as they beat Uzbekistan 4-2 on penalties in Al Ain.
He also made a crucial save early on in normal time as the teams finished deadlocked at 0-0 after-extra-time.
Ryan made two penalty saves for Albion last season, denying Everton's Wayne Rooney and Stoke's Charlie Adam (below).
The second preserved a crucial point which helped the Seagulls in their survival bid, while Stoke eventually went down.
Ryan now faces a quarter-final with the holders on Friday against United Arab Emirates or Kyrgystan, who kick-off at 5pm.
He will not be available for Saturday's FA Cup tie at home to West Brom, although Jason Steele would have stayed in goal for that anyway.
The result of the quarter-final will determine whether David Button remains in goal at his old club Fulham for Albion on January 29, the date for Australia's potential Asian Cup semi-final.
