Albion are on course to complete the signing of Alexis Mac Allister, according to the Argentinian midfield prospect.

The 20-year-old has told a radio station in his country that he is heading to the Seagulls for a medical, will be back home by Monday and will stay with his club, Argentinos Juniors, until June.

The Argus confirmed earlier this month Albion's interest in Mac Allister and their ongoing attempts to thrash out a deal.

Meanwhile, Jay Rodriguez was on target last night for West Brom, Saturday's fourth round FA Cup visitors to the Amex.

He gave them a 19th minute lead at next-to-bottom Bolton from a Chris Brunt free-kick.

Skipper Brunt went off injured in the first half. His replacement, Sam Field, doubled the advantage 15 minutes from time as West Brom won 2-0 to go third in the Championship.

Rodriguez was involved in a racism row last season with Albion defender Gaetan Bong.

He played no part in much-changed West Brom's third round FA Cup win at home to Wigan.

Darren Moore's side will be without Jake Livermore at the Amex. The former England midfielder completes a four-match suspension.
