Albion manager Chris Hughton will receive an honorary degree from the University of Sussex on Thursday to celebrate his achievements in football and for the Seagulls.

He has been recognised for leading the club to the Premier League and surviving in their first top flight season for 34 years.

Hughton and Saturday's Amex FA Cup rival Darren Moore of West Brom are two of only five black and minority ethnic (BAME) managers among the 92 Premier League and Football League clubs.

Hughton said: "It's a huge honour and something I certainly didn't expect.

"To do what we have done over the past four years with Brighton and to be honoured for that is hugely humbling."
