DAVID BUTTON hopes he has made it tough for boss Chris Hughton to leave him out for tomorrow’s trip to his former club Fulham.

Fellow goalkeeper and regular No.1 Mathew Ryan was back in training with Albion yesterday after Australia suffered an Asian Cup upset against host nation the United Arab Emirates on Friday.

But Button has pressed his own claims for a continued run in the side after he kept a clean sheet as Albion were held to a goalless draw in their FA Cup fourth round clash against West Brom.

He was only selected after Jason Steele, who played in the third round, picked up a wrist injury in midweek.

Button told The Argus: “I’d like to think that at least the manager’s now got a decision to make.

“That was my aim when he (Ryan) went away – to do well enough that he’d at least have to think about what he does.

“Hopefully, he has and whatever happens happens.”

Button joined the Seagulls from the Cottagers last summer and admits he would relish a reunion with his former club.

He added: “Any Premier League game is special but for me going back there, it would be particularly nice to play.

“I’ll be ready if called upon.”

Albion and West Brom will be ball No.5 in the FA Cup fifth round draw, which takes place at 7.20pm tonight ahead of the Barnet versus Brentford tie.
