Bernardo is back in training with Albion.
But they will check on his fitness ahead of Saturday’s visit from Watford in the Premier League.
Th left-back has been out for a month after suffering a hamstring problem in the 2-2 draw at West ham.
Hughton said Bernardo trained today but added: “The decision we will take on him is whether that is too soon to be involved in the squad on Saturday."
Albion must also make a decision on Alireza Jahanbakhsh, who has returned from Asian Cup duty but does not resume training until tomorrow.
Jose Izquierdo (knee) remains absent.
Albion are still 13th but Hughton says he is aware the gap below them is closing.
He added: “We are very conscious of a group of teams who are below us but are very capable of winning games and who have shown that."
