Gaetan Bong believes Chris Hughton got the response he wanted from his players in today's goalless draw against Watford.

Albion threw away a two-goal lead as they conceded four goals in the second half in Tuesday's 4-2 defeat at Fulham.

They returned to miserly ways at the Amex in a 0-0 stalemate with Watford and left-back Bong was pleased with the shutout.

Bong said: "We spoke before the game because we knew we had to react.

"At Fulham we played very well in the first half but in the second half we made some mistakes and conceded some unlucky goals.

"We had to react today and we did that.

"We played well, we had the ball a lot, were in control and we created chances.

"We were just unlucky because we couldn't get the goal to secure the victory but I felt we reacted well."

Asked if he felt Albion, who dominated the chances, should have won, Bong said: "We tried. Everyone in the stadium was behind us and we were pushing and pushing.

"Everyone could see we really wanted to win the game and sometimes at the end you just have to say 'okay' because we weren't lucky and were not able to score.

"We kept a clean sheet and didn't concede a goal.

"It's happened before where we can't score and then we have conceded and lost but today we kept a clean sheet and we had the right reaction from all of the boys."
