How Albion rated against Burnley

MATHEW RYAN 6

He could have done better on the second Burnley goal. Conceded a penalty and possibly spared a red card by the fact the ball ran on to Wood.

MARTIN MONTOYA 6

Seemed to do okay defensively although McNeil had space early on to deliver two good crosses. Not much impact going forward.

SHANE DUFFY 6

Scored to spark some hope and had another cleared off the line but part of a defence asked serious questions by the movement of Wood and Barnes, not least on the opening goal.

LEWIS DUNK 6

A very inopportune slip as Wood got away for the opener and a poor attempt to play Barnes offside leading to the third. Was given problems by the Burnley front two.

GAETAN BONG 6

Was, predictably, booed by Burnley fans. Made a brave tackle on Bardsley but some bold attacking intentions were spoiled by quality of crosses.

PASCAL GROSS 6

Must be wondering how he was denied a goal or at least an assist. The German was involved in Albion's first half openings but has yet to rediscover the heights of last season.

DALE STEPHENS 6

Solid enough return from the hip problem in the warm-up that ruled him out against Watford. Should have done more to stop McNeil setting up Wood for Burnley's and his second.

DAVY PROPPER 7

Dutchman started the game particularly strongly, showing bags of determination and hunger. Getting into more advanced positions now as well.

The Argus:

SOLLY MARCH 7

Looked a first half threat, Heaton foiling him twice and also providing an opportunity for Gross before ankle injury forced him off straight after the interval.

GLENN MURRAY 6

Well contained by Tarkowski and Mee. Very few sights of goal in search of his 100th for the club in the league.

JURGEN LOCADIA 5

Better going forward than helping out defensively but still limited impact. His form on the left has tailed off after after an encouraging spell.

Subs

ANTHONY KNOCKAERT 6: Good free-kick for Duffy's goal. Crossing not the best otherwise.

ALIREZA JAHANBAKHSH: Couldn't make a difference.

YVES BISSOUMA: No chance to shine as Albion chased salvation.
