Mark Beard hopes more meticulous planning will help Albion to a club record-equalling run in the FA Youth Cup.

The Seagulls face Everton in the fifth round at Goodison Park this evening (7pm).

Coach Beard's young charges have already knocked out West Ham and Manchester United away from home to reach the last 16.

Now they tackle Everton for a place away to West Brom early next month in the quarter-finals, which is the furthest Albion have ever been in the competition.

Beard said: "After the Man United game, we're really looking forward to it. It's another big team at a fantastic stadium.

"We'll probably be the underdogs again, but we've watched a few of their games and they're a good attacking team. As long as we play like we did against West Ham and Man United, then we'll give ourselves a chance.

"We went in there (Man United) with a gameplan that we focused on for ten days. I watched their games against Chelsea three times, twice against Stoke and we did our homework.

"The boys implemented the game plan very well and we'll do exactly the same for Everton and won't leave any stone unturned."
