BOSS CHRIS Hughton says Albion could be under more relegation pressure the next time they play in the Premier League.

But he wants them to take care of their own business, not rely on the failings of others.

The trip to Chelsea the weekend after Saturday's FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Derby has been postponed due to the Londoners' involvement in the Carabao Cup final.

Albion do not return to league action until the visit to Leicester on February 26.

A combination of Cardiff's last-gasp win at Southampton and Albion's subsequent 3-1 defeat by Burnley at the Amex closed the gap between Hughton's side and the bottom three to three points.

Cardiff, Southampton, Burnley, Newcastle and Crystal Palace – the other clubs fighting to avoid finishing 18th – all play during Albion's blank weekend, which could drop them closer to the trapdoor.

Hughton said: "That's true and, of course, it applies a bit more pressure. But it depends what those results are.

"We had the disappointment before the (Burnley) game of Cardiff winning but that meant Southampton lost.

"If you are relying too much on other results, then it is going to be a hard season. We have to rely on our own results and it is only our own results that will make sure we are in this division next year."

Derby have a Championship fixture at Ipswich tonight.

The West Upper tier at the Amex was opened yesterday due to high demand for seats for Saturday's tie.
