Frank Lampard has revealed he rested two key midfielders with Albion in mind.

The Derby manager is expected to bring back Tom Huddlestone and Craig Bryson for the FA Cup tie at the Amex.

Lampard brought in recent loan signing Andy King and ex-Albion loanee Bradley Johnson at Ipswich last night, when his side drew 1-1. King is cup-tied for the trip to the Amex.

Lampard switched to a 4-2-3-1 formation from his usual 4-3-3.

He explained: “In midfield, asking people to play Wednesday night and Saturday lunchtime is a big ask.

“There are times when you have to use the squad.”

Former Derby midfielder Craig Ramage thought Lampard made too many changes and should be prioritising the race for promotion from the Championship.

Writing for the Derby Telegraph, Ramage said: "It's all well and good saving players for the FA Cup but we all want Premier League football and every point is crucial now. We can't afford any slip-ups.”
