Fit-again Alireza Jahanbakhsh has revealed he is in a hurry to end his long wait for a goal.

The Albion forward wants to open his account in England after hitting 21 goals last term for Eredivisie outfit Alkmaar.

Jahanbakhsh has proved his recovery from a hamstring rupture with games for both Iran and his club in recent weeks.

He is happy he is back to full fitness and has made a first goal for the Seagulls his top target.

Jahanbakhsh, top-scorer in the Dutch league last season, played a full 90 minutes in the FA Cup win over Derby on Saturday.

He told the Argus: “I feel good. In the first half I was confident on the ball. I tried to do my stuff.

“But, obviously, I need to score a goal and that is the thing I am looking forward to.

“I tried a couple of times against Derby but, as a left-sided player, I tried to come inside and shoot but they were really compact.”

Jahanbakhsh is keen to help Albion pull away from the Premier League danger zone and was pleased to play a part in beating the Rams.

But he also makes no secret of his individual targets.

He added: “Front players, wingers, strikers - people expect you to score or be involved with the goals.

“That is my next target, to be honest.

“Now the most important thing is having minutes, getting back to good fitness.

“But being involved with goals is also very important.”

Jahanbakhsh netted for Iran against Oman in the Asian Cup and in a friendly win over Bolivia in October.

His most recent league goal came last May with a hat-trick in his final appearance for Alkmaar, against PEC Zwolle.

He has attempted ten shots in his 11 Prem outings, five of them from outside the box.
