Davy Propper believes he is lucky to still be involved in Albion's relegation fight after ending his goal drought.

The Dutch midfielder was the victim of a tackle by Jamie Vardy (second right below) which earned Leicester's second goal scorer a booking from ref Lee Probert in last night's 2-1 defeat at Leicester.

The Argus:

Propper was caught behind the back of the right knee by the challenge.

He told The Argus: "I was lucky my foot wasn't on the ground and my leg swings a little bit with it.

"Otherwise I think my knee was gone. I was a little bit earlier to the ball than him."

Albion will be relieved Propper has not been ruled out after losing fellow midfielder Pascal Gross to a hamstring injury.

His low strike in the second half was his first goal in 66 appearances since signing from PSV Eindhoven two summers ago.

Propper said: "Of course I'm happy to get rid of the zero. Some of the players were teasing me already.

"It was nice to score the goal, but I would rather have three points.

"We had some big chances, but overall we didn't perform really well."

Albion, in relegation trouble after one point from the last 18, have a significant home game now on Saturday against rock-bottom Huddersfield. They also still have to play fellow strugglers Cardiff and Southampton at the Amex.

Propper said: "It's tight, but we know where we are and what kind of team we are. I hope we don't get nervous and do what we are good at.

"We have some good home games and now it (recovery) needs to happen."
