Roy Hodgson has highlighted the significance of Albion's rivalry with Crystal Palace.

Palace boss Hodgson takes charge of his 300th game in English football against the Seagulls at Selhurst Park tomorrow.

He said:"It is a derby game. That’s how we and our fans would regard it.

"It was renewed last year with a vengeance.

"People from the outside need to realise we regard it as an important one to us and our fans.

"You are affected by the way the fans feel. That's what derbies do."

Albion fans had the bragging rights in December when Palace were beaten 3-1 at the Amex.

Hodgson said: "They are important. We are aware of it and I am sure Chris Hughton, like myself, will revert to the fact that it is an important game with three points at stake."
