BOSS Chris Hughton believes Albion can take inspiration from Wigan and Swansea in their bid to cause an FA Cup semi-final shock.

The Seagulls will be big underdogs when they face Manchester City at Wembley on April 6.

So were Wigan when they beat City in the final in 2013.

Championship side Swansea also ran Pep Guardiola's quadruple seekers close in the quarter-finals, leading 2-0 and losing to a late Sergio Aguero header when the Argentinian was offside.

Hughton told the Argus: "I think you can take some inspiration from that (Wigan). You can take some inspiration from Swansea, who were really good.

"Perhaps one of the goals if there had been VAR - that just shows how close Swansea were.

"But we are playing arguably one of the best teams in the world and we will have to have so much go our way on the day.

"But it's a very exciting prospect for this club."

Hughton thought Albion were out when they were 2-0 down against Millwall after 88 minutes. He said: "At that stage, if you are a betting man, we're not going to win the game. I could see us getting one back and when you are putting so much pressure on at that stage of the game you know it can happen.

"But to get two goals and also to miss your first penalty, then that takes some doing. Credit to the players, because it was a huge challenge and they rose to the challenge when it was most needed."

Albion's progress means they will finish the season by squeezing ten games into 44 days, or 11 in 50 if they reach the final.

Premier League fixtures at home to Cardiff and away to Chelsea and Spurs have to be rearranged.
