Andy Naylor and Brian Owen rate the Albion players in their narrow FA Cup semi-final defeat against Manchester City at Wembley.

MATHEW RYAN 7: As at Chelsea in midweek, not as busy as he might have been. But made two decent second-half saves to keep hopes of a famous result flickering.

MARTIN MONTOYA 7: One of the first to show attacking intent in the first half as Albion recovered from the early setback. A tidy display amid elite company.

SHANE DUFFY 7: Fooled by delivery and movement of the highest order for the only goal. But then rose to the occasion and almost teed up the equaliser.

LEWIS DUNK 8: Back on song with a powerful defensive display against a City side with plenty of movement and ideas.

BERNARDO 8: Up against English football’s man of the moment in Raheem Sterling and did a strong defensive job while also finding time and scope to venture forward.

YVES BISSOUMA 7: So much promise of more to come now that he is getting a regular run in the team in his debut season. Broke with pace and purpose at times.

DALE STEPHENS 7: Accomplished display and has maintained a level of consistency. Nibbles at David Silva before conceding a free-kick emphasised his combative instincts.

DAVY PROPPER 7: The rangy Dutchman has come on a lot since he was thrown in at the deep end for his debut against City at the start of last season. Decent shot wide in the first half.

ANTHONY KNOCKAERT 8: Earned his man-of-the-match award. Bundle of energy and endeavour. Not far off target with a first half shot and threatening deliveries from set plays.

GLENN MURRAY 6: Very difficult, up against Laporte and Otamendi. Former's intervention from Duffy's header from a corner denied him a poacher's equaliser.

ALIREZA JAHANBAKHSH 6: Might not have started if March had been fit. Admirable integrity when not making a meal of Walker's rush of blood.

Subs

FLORIN ANDONE: As hard to make an impact as it was for Murray.

JOSE IZQUIERDO: Forced Emerson into his only save with a shot held by the keeper at neck height.

JURGEN LOCADIA: Thrown on late to help Andone in switch to 4-4-2.
