Albion will hope they are not put in another spot of bother at the Amex on Saturday.

Kevin Friend, who referees their fixture against Bournemouth, has awarded the away team a penalty on three of his four visits this season.

He has also pointed for two Seagulls spot-kicks and presided over three home wins.

Friend was last at the Amex when Liverpool won 1-0 with a penalty forced and converted by Mo Salah in January.

He also reffed wins over Manchester United and Crystal Palace, both of which saw Albion score and concede from the spot.

His odd game out in terms of penalties was the 1-0 win over West Ham.

Last season, he refereed Albion’s penultimate home fixture, when a Pascal Gross penalty helped them draw 1-1 with Tottenham.

The Leicestershire-based official has shown 118 yellow cards and two reds, one of which was to Albion defender Shane Duffy against Palace, in his 34 games across the competitions this season.

Friend is followed to the Amex by Andre Marriner, who will referee next Tuesday’s fixture against Cardiff City.
