How Albion's players rated against Cardiff...

MATHEW RYAN 6

Not a lot to judge him on. Beaten by a wonder strike and then a header following great set-piece delivery.

BRUNO 6

Brought back to the side as skipper and, one poor pass excepted in the first half, did what would have been expected in defence and going forward.

SHANE DUFFY 6

Not a lot to do defensively and not much of an impact going forward at set-pieces.

The Argus:

LEWIS DUNK (above) 5

Looked like he was hauled over in the box at 0-0 but nothing was given. But beaten by Morrison for the killer second goal.

BERNARDO 6

Not a bad game defensively but could not add what might have been valuable attacking spark.

ALIREZA JAHANBAKHSH 4

Given a chance out wide which he failed to take. Chose wrong options and looked on different wavelength to colleagues at times.

DALE STEPHENS 5

Got off to a particularly poor start with his passing and looked frustrated by options ahead of him in the second half.

DAVY PROPPER 5

A man to whom Albion would have looked to unlock workmanlike Cardiff but lacked precision, tempo and confidence. Was shrugged off the ball in the build-up to the match-defining first goal.

PASCAL GROSS 5

Brought back from injury in the No.10 role and got on the ball a few times but it was asking too much for him to make a big impact. Replaced by Andone.

The Argus:

SOLLY MARCH (above) 6

Question the quality at times but he at least had a bit of intent about him and was the one attacking player who looked like he might discomfort Cardiff. Hit the side-netting early and set up Murray to head on to the post very late.

GLENN MURRAY 5

Fired a chance just over and hit the post with a close-range header when he arguably should have scored, though the latter was probably too late to make a difference.

SUBS

FLORIN ANDONE 4

Sent on to partner Murray, which many have hoped to see, and they linked nicely on one cocasion. But he failed to trouble the City defence and was well thwarted by the excellent Morrison when he got clear.

JOSE IZQUIERDO N/A

As on Saturday, was sent on in adversity and asked to work wonders. It never looked like happening.
