Albion have five matches left to save themselves in the Premier League.

It looks like a two-horse race for survival, with Southampton in form and three points better off.

Chris Hughton's side are two points above Cardiff with a game in hand and a superior goal difference (-21 to -33).

The momentum, however, appears to be with the Welshmen after their 2-0 win at the Amex on Tuesday and a slightly easier run-in.

Chief Sports Reporter Andy Naylor analyses the remaining matches and predicts who will stay up.

SATURDAY

Wolves v Albion (3pm)

A banker home win on the face of it.

Wanderers are eighth, a fantastic effort following promotion, even if they have profited from the links with Portugese super agent Jorge Mendes.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo's close friend has delivered high-class signings like Raul Jimenez (below centre) and Ruben Neves.

The Argus: They will qualify for the Europa League if they finish seventh and Manchester City beat Watford in the FA Cup final.

Only behind Leicester on goal difference with a game in hand, that is a big incentive to recover from Wembley semi-final heartbreak after leading Watford 2-0 in the closing stages and a hangover defeat at Southampton.

Albion have a good record against Wolves, one defeat in the last nine meetings, including a somewhat fortunate 1-0 victory at the Amex in October.

They cannot lose another five matches without scoring, can they?

Prediction: Point for Albion

SUNDAY

Cardiff v Liverpool (4pm)

A nothing-to-lose fixture for Neil Warnock's team, with the crowd right behind them after delivering the must-win against Albion.

The trouble is it's a must-win for Liverpool in their absorbing title race with Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp's side are two points clear at the top but have played a game more.

They will start the match back in second place if Manchester City avenge their Champions League quarter-final exit against Tottenham at the Etihad on Saturday (12.30).

Prediction: No points for Cardiff

TUESDAY APRIL 23

Spurs v Albion (7.45pm) Albion's game in hand.

They were supposed to be the first visitors to Tottenham's impressive new stadium until reaching the FA Cup semi-finals.

Spurs have settled in with three straight clean sheet wins and need the security of a top four finish to qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Argus: At least Albion do not have to face Harry Kane (above) - on target in two of the past three meetings - but they have yet to take a point away to one of the Premier League's top six and it will be Tottenham's first match back at their gleaming headquarters since the extraordinary Champions League passage against Mn City.

Prediction: No points for Albion

SATURDAY APRIL 27

Fulham v Cardiff (3pm) It could be advantage Cardiff on a potentially pivotal day.

They will, in all probability, have the added incentive of climbing above Albion for at least a few hours if they win at Craven Cottage.

Fulham are already down but possess more of an attacking threat than the Seagulls, as they demonstrated in their second half fightback in January.

They also ended a sequence of nine straight defeats by beating Everton at home last Saturday.

Prediction: Three points for Cardiff

Albion v Newcastle (5.30pm)

The pressure will really be on in the late kick-off for the TV cameras.

Albion have lost their way horribly at the Amex, suffering defeats by Burnley in February and Southampton, Bournemouth, Cardiff in succession.

Nobody could have seen that coming after Leicester were the only previous winners at the stadium in the Premier League outside of the top six.

The preferable fixtures late in the season are against teams with little to play for, apart from an extra near-£2 million per finishing place, and Newcastle are safe.

Prediction: Three points for Albion

SATURDAY May 4

Arsenal v Albion (3pm) It will be an emotional farewell at The Emirates to Petr Cech, who is hanging up his gloves at the end of the season.

Arsenal could still be fighting for Champions League football next season via a top four finish.

Unai Emery's side are very strong at home, winning their last eight games in the Premier League and Europa League with 21 goals scored and only two conceded.

Prediction: No points for Albion

Cardiff v Crystal Palace (5.30pm)

Can Albion really expect a favour from their arch rivals after beating them twice?

Probably not, although Palace's away record is excellent, top seven with seven wins.

They also put the final nail in Stoke's relegation coffin in their final away fixture last season.

Straw-clutching aside, it has the feel of a nice home finish for Cardiff to take the fight to the final day.

Prediction: Three points for Cardiff

SUNDAY May 12

Albion v Manchester City (3pm)

Will the title still be at stake for Manchester City, ahead of the FA Cup final against Watford six days later?

Pep Guardiola has such a powerful squad. The quadruple may have gone but the treble is still very much on.

Albion gave them a run for their money in their first Premier League fixture at the Amex and at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals but it is still a huge ask.

Prediction: No points for Albion

Manchester United v Cardiff (3pm)

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (below) against the club he took down in 2013-14.

The Argus: United's form has fallen away since his temporary appointment became permanent but United could still be in the fight for the top four.

Even if they are not, he will want to end on a positive note at Old Trafford before a key summer in the transfer market to turn United into genuine title contenders again.

Prediction: No points for Cardiff

Result: Albion 37 points, Cardiff 37 points - Albion survive on goal difference.
