Albion will be without Davy Propper again for Saturday's key visit of Newcastle.

But Anthony Knockaert is available after a ban for the clash at the Amex (5.30pm).

Propper missed Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Spurs with a hamstring injury which forced him off in the early stages of last Saturday's 0-0 draw at Wolves.

Beram Kayal and Yves Bissouma are vying to deputise for the Dutch midfielder.

Knockaert has served a three-match suspension for a red card challenge on Bournemouth's Adam Smith.

Hughton says the spirit in the camp is still good and Albion need to remain calm after a run of one point from the last 21, which has left them three points above relegation rivals Cardiff with three games left.

"At this stage you need motivated players," Hughton said. "Certainly in the last two games we've had responses. The feel and mood I see is one of determination.

"When times are tougher and the challenge is greater, the only thing for me is working harder.

"You've also got to have that calmness and composure about you. Panic can have a different effect."

Albion have gone 556 minutes without a league goal and face a Newcastle side safe in 13th on 41 points following five wins out of nine under Rafa Benitez.

Hughton said: "We haven't created enough chances or scored enough goals but that's the challenge. It can change in one game.

"I think they are a good side. They've played a system that suits the players they've got and they are in good form. We are conscious of that."
