Albion under-23s attempt to round off a successful season by finishing runners-up.

A win for Simon Rusk's youngsters in their final fixture against Chelsea at the Lancing training complex on Friday evening (7pm) would lift them above Arsenal into second place behind Everton.

They are already guaranteed to complete their first season in Premier League 2 following promotion ahead of Liverpool (4th), Manchester City (7th) Chelsea (8th) and Spurs (9th) in the 12-team table.

They could also complete a double over Chelsea after beating them 3-2 earlier in the season with a Viktor Gyokeres penalty and two goals for Aaron Connolly.

Swede Gyokeres has just been awarded a new contract, while Connolly's loan club Luton Town have been promoted to the Championship after the Republic of Ireland prospect won Albion's young player of the season award.

The Argus: Haydon Roberts (above) and Teddy Jenks have both made several appearances for the under-23s this season.

The under-18s duo have been named in the England under-17s squad for the European Championship finals in Ireland.

They face France in Longford on Friday night, the Netherlands on Monday and Sweden three days later. The last two group games are staged in Dublin.
