Percy Tau has been named Player of the Season in Belgium after an outstanding campaign for Albion chairman Tony Bloom's Belgian second tier club Union Saint-Gilloise.
But the wait will go on for him to get a chance with the Seagulls.
They signed the 24-year-old South African star last summer and loaned him to assist with work permit issues.
Tau has scored 11 goals and provided 13 assists in 34 matches for Union to help them to the play-offs.
He is now an award winner in two continents in two years after previously winning Player of the Season in his own country with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Tau heads off to the African Cup of Nations in Egypt with South Africa next month.
His nation's low FIFA ranking is hampering his work permit prospects and he is likely to remain in Belgium or play somewhere else in Europe next year.
Tau said of his future: "I think that will all be decided after (the African Nations), but the whole focus at the moment is at Union and to finish off the playoffs."
I’d like to say thank you to everyone who voted for me. A big thank you to @UnionStGilloise players and staff for the achievement,I share with y’all. To the supporters, thank you for warm welcome to the Club. ❤️🇿🇦🇧🇪 pic.twitter.com/djkSYUbCcM
