Andy Naylor and Brian Owen rate the Albion players in the 4-1 home defeat by Premier League champions Manchester City.

MATHEW RYAN 6: Not much he could do about the goals, apart perhaps from the Mahrez shot which he reached with his left hand. Most of his work was efficient.

BRUNO 8: Not the result El Capitan wanted to send him into retirement but his performance was excellent. Albion will miss his poise, technique and experience.

SHANE DUFFY 7: Player of the season got through a lot of work on the ground and in the air inside his own area. That is the nature of City - they are relentless.

LEWIS DUNK 6: Bruno is a tough act to follow as captain. He is up to it and defended typically solidly for the most part, except for when committing himself for the Mahrez goal.

BERNARDO 7: The young Brazilian coped pretty well against high class opposition in Bernardo Silva initially, then Mahrez, to cap an encouraging debut campaign at the club.

ANTHONY KNOCKAERT 6: Very bright early, not just with individual stuff but with some astute passes, notably to release Jahanbakhsh. Like all attacking home players, he faded.

YVES BISSOUMA 6: There are creases to iron out but did some good stuff on the ball on occasions and will be a player Albion will expect to now kick on.

BERAM KAYAL 6: Part of the midfield web Albion challenged City to play their way through or shoot over. No lack of effort.

ALIREZA JAHANBAKHSH 6: Hard to hand out a high a mark given it was only 45 minutes but that first half was as lively as he has been in a tough debut season.

PASCAL GROSS 6: Had to sacrifice much of his attacking work to get stuck into the overall team effort. But a gem of a corner for the goal.

GLENN MURRAY 6: Ended the home campaign as he started it, with a goal against a Manchester giant. Loose pass led indirectly to City going ahead.

Subs

FLORIN ANDONE: Sent on as a double switch with attacking intent but had no impact.

JURGEN LOCADIA: Went on with Andone and found it hard to make an attacking impression.

MARTIN MONTOYA: Filled Bruno's massive berth for the last few minutes – and next season?
