Phil Neville has revealed he was not contacted by Albion after they sacked boss Chris Hughton last week.

The England women’s team boss was linked with the vacancy in some quarters before the Seagulls appointed Graham Potter as Hughton's successor.

But Neville, in a Lionesses press conference, said that was not the case.

Neville was speaking ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Denmark at Walsall, his team's penultimate warm-up game for the World Cup in France which starts in two weeks' time.

England also face New Zealand at the Amex a week tomorrow before opening their World Cup campaign against Scotland in Group D eight days later.

Neville said of the two warm-up matches: "We wanted good tests.

"We have a team that was in the Euro final two years ago (Euro 2017 runners-up Denmark), and we have a team that has qualified for the World Cup (New Zealand). Both play different systems, both play different styles.”
