Phil Neville wants the Amex to provide the perfect dress rehearsal for England’s World Cup opening game.

The Lionesses play New Zealand today (1pm) in their last match before they kick-off their campaign against Scotland in France next Sunday.

More than 20,000 tickets have been sold and head coach Neville is close to getting the packed stadium he wants to give his side perfect preparations for the tests to come in the Women’s World Cup.

With all of the available sections virtually at capacity, there are only a restricted number of seats available online.

Neville said: “It’s a brilliant stage and we want to get the crowd to 30,000.

“It’s going to be a sunny day. We have been here a week, and there is lots to do around here, but actually coming to watch my players would be the most important thing.

“Forget men or women, watch some of the best senior footballers play for their country with utter pride, determination and quality.

“In eight days’ time, we are going to be playing in front of 31,000 people in Nice so I want to replicate that.

“I want my players to feel the expectation of a crowd coming to see them play well, and I want us to win.”

Although Neville admits his side are itching to get to France now, he stressed how important it was to leave on a high and follow up last weekend’s win.

He said: “It’s about momentum and winning breeds momentum.

“After the game last Saturday against Denmark, whether we played well or not, we won the game 2-0 and that’s another ‘W’ in the win column.

“That means people around the world have saying, ‘England have won again’.”
