Albion could tie the knot with a Spanish signing - if his current suitors get cold feet.
The Argus can confirm the Seagulls are interested in Portu, the 27-year-old forward or attacking midfielder who has scored 18 top-flight goals for Girona over the last two seasons.
Portu, whose full name is Cristian Portugues Manzanera, is expected to join Real Sociedad for £8.8 million after Girona were relegated.
But the switch is being hindered by the Basque club’s lack of ready funds.
Portu would like stay in Spain but wants his future sorted by the time he gets married this Saturday.
Real are trying to negotiate a schedule of payments to Girona and hope to raise money by selling forward Juanmi to Real Betis for about £5 million, payable in instalments.
They are also due to receive cash from Atletico Madrid if Antoine Griezmann completes his anticipated move to Barcelona.
Portu came through the Valencia youth system and has been linked with West Ham recently.
