Albion are expected to opt for experience as they search for a new right-back.

The Seagulls are assessing options as they look to replace retired skipper Bruno in their Premier League squad.

They have been speculatively linked with Derby youngster Jayden Bogle in the early weeks of the close season.

Albion are fully aware of the 18-year-old’s huge promise but are understood to be puzzled by suggestions they are already involved in talks over a deal.

It is thought they would prefer more experience and top-flight know-how as they go into their third season among the elite.

Derby are expecting plenty of interest in a youngster who ended up playing 50 games last season.

They narrowly missed out on the cash windfall of promotion to the Premier League and, like many Championship clubs, have extended themselves financially.

But there is a school of thought in the East Midlands that Bogle would benefit as a player from another tough season in the Championship.

Albion want a senior right-back to compete with and support Martin Montoya.

They are in the early stages of piecing together a squad for Graham Potter’s first season in charge.

Argentinian attacking midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is expected to go back out on loan, possibly in Europe although he has suitors in his home country.

His compatriot Ezequiel Schelotto has spoken of what Mac Allister, who is still only 20, could bring when his chance comes in England.

Schelotto told TNT Sports in Buenos Aires: “It’s a very physical football in the Premier League. They never give up.

“I’d love him to come and bring something different to English football which is boom, boom, get it forward. If he brings something different it will be very good for us.”
