Leon Balogun played an unfortunate part for Nigeria in a shock 2-0 defeat by minnows Madagascar at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Albion defender, put into trouble on the edge of his own box, was caught out for Madagascar's early first goal and they added a second from a free-kick after the break.
Nigeria had already qualified for the last 16 in Egypt.
Balogun's fellow Albion defender Gaetan Bong is through as well with Cameroon.
Club colleague Percy Tau will join them if South Africa avoid defeat against Morocco today (5pm).
