Albion were last night awaiting fall-out from Madrid as their striker hunt went on.

The Seagulls are keen on Leganes striker Youssef En-Nesyri and are widely reported to have bid about £18.2 million, or 20 million Euros.

En-Nesyri missed his team’s friendly against neighbours Alcorcon yesterday after his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored twice.

The 22-year-old Morocco international scored nine goals in 22 starts last term to help Leganes, one of the smaller clubs in LaLiga Santander, finish 13th.

The left-footed forward previously had a good stint at Malaga.

En-Nesyri was keen to negotiate a new deal and pay rise at the end of last season but Leganes would be willing to sell him for 20 million Euros paid up front.

That would show a massive profit on the five million Euros they paid for him a year ago, when he signed a contract until 2023.

Albion are also thought to be well-placed to sign Neal Maupay while aware Brentford will be unwilling to sell their star striker until they believe they have covered his departure.

Bees have signed Joel Valencia to boost their attacking unit although the Ecuador international is a winger rather than a focal point of the attack.

Albion were last night awaiting developments over players for whom they have reportedly bid, including Bristol City defender Adam Webster.

It is believed there could be player movement by the weekend.

That would in turn potentially trigger further activity, including loan deals.
