Albion defender Matt Clarke is on his way to Derby County.

The recent signing from Portsmouth is expected at the Rams’ training ground for a medical ahead of a season-long loan.

Meanwhile negotiations continue between Bristol City and the Seagulls aimed at bringing defender Adam Webster to the Amex.

A deal for Webster is likely to take Albion through the £20 million barrier for the first time.

Clarke’s impending exit would appear to suggest Albion expect to bring in another defender.

The former Ipswich youngster cost £3.5 million when he signed on a four-year deal in June.

That could become a bargain if he proves himself as an established defender at the top end of the Championship.
