Graham Potter says Albion are close to tying up deal for Bristol City defender Adam Webster.

Potter gave the update after his side beat Valencia 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at the Amex tonight.

Webster was understood to be discussing personal terms and undergoing a medical today after a fee was agreed.

Potter said: “I believe it is close. Nothing finalised or anything but I believe it is close.”

Asked whether he was certain Lewis Dunk would remain at the club beyond the transfer deadline, Potter replied: “Yes.”

Dunk’s fellow centre-back Shane Duffy headed home to secure victory in the Seagulls’ final pre-season run-out.

Glenn Murray’s penalty had earlier put Albion on level terms.

Potter said: “I thought it was a really game and a good performance from us.

“We grew into the game. We didn’t let the disappointment of going a goal down affect us.

“We kept trying to do what we wanted to do, there were some really good performances and, while the result doesn’t necessarily matter, it was nice to win.”
