NEAL MAUPAY fears players will have to wait before they celebrate goals after the introduction of VAR to the Premier League.
Seagulls summer buy Leandro Trossard scored but also had a goal ruled out by the video assistant referee in the 1-1 draw with West Ham.
The Belgian had wildly celebrated his first strike on debut only for it to be chalked off a couple of minutes later for an offside in the build up.
Second-half sub Maupay, who came off the bench to score in the win at Watford the previous weekend, warned: “We need to get used to it now.
“After every goal we need to wait and make sure the referee says it IS a goal.
“It is kind of new for us but we need to get used to it now.”
Maupay, who did celebrate immediately after his goal against Watford, felt sorry for Trossard and believes the technology will be a killjoy.
He said: “It’s a bit frustrating as a player because you know when you score that you have got to wait to celebrate. That kills emotions a bit.”
