NEAL MAUPAY says Albion fans have not seen the best of him yet.

The Frenchman scored on his debut off the bench in the 3-0 win at Watford on the opening Saturday but failed to double his tally for the Seagulls against West Ham when presented with an easier chance in the draw at the Amex.

Maupay, who turned 23 a week ago, missed out on much of pre-season amid uncertainty over his future and the £16 million summer signing from Brentford believes he is still playing catch-up.

He told The Argus: “I think I can do much better. I didn’t play in pre-season so I need rhythm.

“I have only been with this team for two weeks now so I am definitely not at my best and I will improve a lot.”

The striker’s coolly-taken goal in the victory over Watford made him an instant hit with Albion fans and was a glimpse of the finishing prowess that brought him 41 goals in 95 games for the Bees.

He is happy with the way he is settling in with his new team-mates.

Maupay said: “I feel good in the team. My team-mates have welcomed me really well and I have trained well too – working hard.

“I feel confidence from last season so I just want to make sure I keep improving and keep working hard.”
