See how Albion's players were rated in their Carabao Cup second-round win against Bristol Rovers:

David Button, 7

Had very little to do in the first-half. He looked comfortable on the ball throughout the game. However, he could not do anything about Tom Nichols goal for Rovers as it was some strike.

After this Button made a couple of key saves to keep Albion level.

Steven Alzate, 8

A very promising performance from the U23's midfielder. In the first-half he was asked to play right-wing-back and he impressed with how comfortable he was playing there.

During the second-half he moved up into his natural midfield role and did well topping his evening off with the assist for Glenn Murray's winner in injury time.

Leon Balogun, 7

The Nigerian centre-back made his first start of the season and performed well in a back-three. He had the tough job of going up against the pacey Victor Adeboyejo.

However he stuck to his guns and defended well with Adam Webster and Gaetan Bong at the back.

Adam Webster, 7

A promising start for the centre-back. He returned to Bristol to make his first start for Albion.

Webster seemed comfortable at the centre of the back-three and drove out of defence with the ball well.

Gaetan Bong, 7

Had a bit of tough start but grew into the game and defended well.

Despite playing in a slightly different role he was still getting up and down the left flank to offer support when Albion were attacking.

Bernardo, 7

Had an effort saved in the first-half which Murray tapped home but it was disallowed for offside. He then had another effort blocked in the first-half after the Rovers defence got in a slight mess.

In the second-half he was involved in the build-up to the winner with a nice run down the left wing.

Pascal Gross, 7

A solid display in the middle of the park alongside Aaron Mooy. The German went close in the second-half when his shot from outside the box went just wide of the post.

Aaron Mooy, 7

The Australian got his first start and did well in the centre of the park alongside Gross.

He got stuck in the middle and won the ball a couple of times including for the first goal where he won the ball and then played a nice pass to Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh, 7

A mixed night for the winger in the first-half he played on the right wing and made a couple of nice runs but lost his footing on both occasions.

In the second-half his effort was deflected into the path of Connolly for the first goal. He then dropped back into right-wing-back and did well winning the ball a couple of times.

Aaron Connolly, 8

An impressive full debut from the Irish striker. He looked a handful all night with his pace. Connolly had the first chance of the game spinning on the ball and firing over early on.

In the 55th minute he got his first senior goal for Albion getting on the end of Jahanbakhsh's deflected shot, before calmly placing the ball into the bottom right corner.

Glenn Murray, 7

The experienced striker had the pleasure of skipping Albion last night. He had an effort disallowed in the first-half when he tapped home after Bernardo's shot was saved but he was offside.

In stoppage time however he got on the end of a lovely ball from Alzate to tap home from close range and secure a place in the third-round of the Carabao Cup for Albion.
