Dale Stephens has revealed he is delighted to have a former arch rival on his side.

Loan signing Aaron Mooy could feature against his old club as Albion visit Manchester City today (3pm).

Stephens and Mooy went head to head in the heat of the Championship promotion battle when the Aussie international was on loan from City to Huddersfield.

Mooy has so far been limited to a few minutes off the bench in the Premier League after moving to the Amex for the season.

But he could add to those minutes as Albion look to nullify Pep Guardiola’s champions at the Etihad.

Stephens said: “He is a player I have played against a lot.

“We always had tough games against him and Huddersfield.

“He will be putting pressure on all the midfield positions and that is what is he has been brought in to do.

“He is a very technical, creative player. He gives us a bit of a different option.

“He is probably a bit more attacking than Davy (Propper) and myself so it is something for the manager to think about.”

Head coach Graham Potter has decisions to make after losing Jurgen Locadia and Florin Andone from what has been his customaray matchday 18.

Stephens says Albion have been working hard to plot a major upset.

But an afternoon against City can be of benefit to their new-look team no matter what happens.

He added: “Without giving too much away, we want to go there, put on a performance and get an encouraging result.

“We are not under any illusions it will be easy.

“We have a plan in place and we want to go and win.

“It will be a tough test for us and, even if we don’t get the result we want, we will probably learn something.”
