Alexis Mac Allister is set for more minutes with Argentina after making his full international debut.
The Albion attacking midfielder on loan to Boca Juniors played the final 20 minutes of a 0-0 friendly draw versus Chile in the Los Angeles Coliseum.
He went on for Paulo Dybala and provided the cross from which fellow newcomer Lucas Martínez Quarta headed against the post.
Argentina, who are missing the banned Lionel Messi and rested Sergio Aguero, now travel to San Antonio to face Mexico.
Mac Allister was one of three debutants for Argentina.
Head coach Scaloni said: “The shirt did not weight heavily on the new players. I think they have got the ability to play. Bit by bit, they will get more minutes.”
Friendly matches do not directly contribute to any attempt by Albion to secure Mac Allister a work permit for the UK.
They do, however, help him get a foot in the door for competitive fixtures while international status increases his value in the transfer market.
Scaloni has revealed he will make three or four changes for the Mexico match.
