Sussex want six-wicket England star Jofra Archer to join their promotion bid.
Head coach Jason Gillespie will make a cheeky request for the pace man to play in the season-closer at home to Worcestershire.
Sussex won by eight wickets at Gloucestershire yesterday and could go into their final Championship game, which starts a week on Monday, in contention to go up.
Gillespie said: “We will ask the question.
“Knowing Jofra, he would want to play but I’m of the opinion that England would want to shut him down for a while.
“I will wait until after the Test match.”
Sussex were unsuccessful in a request for Archer to play in their recent Vitality Blast quarter-final against Worcestershire, which they lost by eight wickets.
He was in devastating form at the Oval yesterday, taking 6-62 to help England open a lead of 69 on first innings in the fifth Ashes Test against Australia.
