Neal Maupay has been ruled out of Albion’s Carabao Cup clash with Aston Villa.
But the striker is expected to be fit for Saturday’s Premier League trip to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Maupay was always unlikely to figure in the third round tie on Wednesday at the Amex but Seagulls head coach Graham Potter is confident he will be available to face Frank Lampard’s side.
Potter said: “Neal [Maupay] had a cut on his knee, but he’ll be okay for the weekend.”
Fellow frontman Glenn Murray, who was on the bench for Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Newcastle after picking up an ankle injury, is unlikely to be risked and saved for Chelsea.
Potter said: “Glenn [Murray] rolled his ankle last week – we took a chance with him on the bench at the weekend but whether we do that again we’ll see. Other than that, it’s as you were.”
Wednesday night's game comes too soon for defender Leon Balogun and wideman Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
