Frank Lampard says Chelsea will soon end their wait for a home league win.

The Blues thumped Grimsby 7-1 in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

But they have yet to secure a three-point haul at Stamford Bridge under Lampard’s tenure.

They also dropped points in the Champions League, losing 1-0 to Valencia in the opening group fixture.

Lampard said: “Of course, the fact we haven’t won at home in the league is something we want to correct.

“We need a similar performance to Liverpool (when they lost 2-1) because I thought we were very good.

“If we get that level of performance I expect the home win to come soon.”

Like Graham Potter, Lampard fielded numerous academy players during his team’s midweek Carabao Cup tie.

Callum Hudson-Odoi marked his return from injury with a goal while defender Reece James was on target on his Blues debut.

The pair will be in contention to feature against the Seagulls.

Lampard said: “They’re in the squad, they performed the other day.

“They still have improvement, they are young players. Now they’re back fit, they are pushing.”

Lampard expects striker Olivier Giroud to be available following illness although that could be to take a place on the bench.

He also thinks Andreas Christensen will be fit after he was injured against Liverpool.

Antonio Rudiger, Emerson Palmieri and Ruben Loftus-Cheek remain sidelined.
