Ryan Longman made a triumphant return to the Amex tonight.

The striker who went on as sub in the Carabao Cup tie against Aston Villa was back just 48 hours to score two and tee one up for the under-23s.

He could even have had a hat-trick as Albion beat Tottenham 4-1.

Longman tested Villa sub Jed Steer on Wednesday and here helped the youngsters enjoy a fine come-from-behind win in Premier League 2.

He cancelled out a neatly taken opener by Rodel Richards when his 37th minute shot deflected over keeper Jonathan De Bie.

Danny Cashman nudged Albion ahead three minutes into the second period with a deft diversion of Jack Leahy’s driven ball across goal.

Paris Maghoma should have levelled almost immediately for Spurs but shot over an open goal after Hugo Keto was beaten by a cross.

Longman scored a beauty on 62 minutes, cutting inside and back outside his man before unleashing a shot high past De Bie from the right of the box.

He was in a similar position when, with a hat-trick beckoning, he flashed a low shot past the far post after being released by sub Mark Leonard’s clever pass.

Longman turned creator on 80 minutes, setting up an easy finish for sub Lorent Tolaj after some super passing by the hosts involving Cashman.

All the under-23s who started against Villa were rested, some watching from the stand.

The teamsheet included seven members of the club’s high-flying under-18s.

Albion: Keto; Yapi, Tsoungui, O’Hora, Furlong (Leonard 68); Spong, J.Davies, Leahy; Longman, Radulovic (Tolaj 74), Cashman (Wilson 88). Unused subs: McGill, Freestone.
