Simon Rusk was pleased with his side's performance in their 2-0 win over Southend United in the Leasing.com Trophy.
Second-half strikes from Taylor Richards and Warren O'Hora secured the three points for the Under-21's.
The win means that Albion continue their 100% start in Group C after beating their second League One side in the competition.
Albion boss Rusk said:"I am very happy I thought it was a disciplined performance and we had moments of quality.
"I didn't think we were troubled too much overall and going into it we had a lot of players who have a level of experience in this competition.
"So it is really about getting the point where the players know what they have got to deal with and it was a good team performance."
