Chris Hughton has revealed he is keeping himself busy after being axed by Albion.

But he would love to be in a managerial job.

Hughton has been linked with several clubs since leaving the Seagulls five months ago.

He wants to be ready for his next appointment.

And that means keeping in touch with what is going on.

Hughton’s tenure at the Amex ended in May, the day after his side completed their season with a 4-1 home defeat to champions Manchester City.

He said: “It is always difficult adjusting because you are doing something you haven’t done for four-and-a-half years and, of course, for periods before that.

“In between jobs, I have had short breaks.

“It is something you don’t want to happen.

“If I had a choice, then I would still be working.

“What you have to do is make the most if it.

“I’m someone who generally has not found it too difficult to keep busy .

“I think you sometimes have to go outside your comfort zone and this is a really good opportunity to watch a lot of games.”

Interviewed by talkSPORT, Hughton said being out of the game offered a new perspective on watching football.

He added: “Sometimes in some ways you can actually enjoy the game more than in any other stage because you are watching games but I suppose you have got no loyalties either way “I make sure to keep busy in this period but it is something that of course I am not used to.

“There is always an opportunity to learn.

“Whether that is doing something you wouldn’t do in a normal game or normal season, watching some games or going abroad.

“The game is changing and you have to be able to change with it.

“It is a good opportunity to learn.”
