Graham Potter says there is a lot more to come from his Albion side.

And he would love that progress to include a second successive win.

Albion go to Aston Villa tomorrow with confidence high after a 3-0 success over Tottenham going into the international break.

Villa, too, are on a high, having won 5-1 at Norwich while the Seagulls were seeing off Spurs.

Potter has generally been pleased with performances.

The Spurs game, helped by an early gift, gave a glimpse of what Albion can achieve.

Asked whether he saw that performance coming from his team, Potter said: “Yes, I did. I felt we were making progress, game on game. It’s never a straight line.

“You are going to get the Chelsea game, for example, and different things can affect you.

“But, overall, I felt the daily work of the players, the consistency of their performances, was such that the performance that you witnessed was a possibility.

“Now our challenge is we have to maintain that level and try and improve.

“That’s the exciting thing.

“I still think there is room for improvement.

“We are not at our max. We are at maximum effort but I still think we can improve. That’s good.

“The players have been open to things. I think there is a good understanding of what we are trying to do,.

“Maybe the system can be tweaked a little bit but how we want to play, I think, has been consistent.

“As we work more and more, we will improve our understanding as well.

“There has to be a level of consistency about what we are trying to do and how we want to play.

“In a game, everything changes a little bit in relation to how the other team is playing.

“But the players’ approach has been really good.”

Potter knows about the test which awaits Albion having faced Villa last season with Swansea.

He said: “It’s an intimidating place when the crowd are behind the team.

“Dean (Smith, manager) has done a great job since coming in – promotion and essentially investing again.

“They are a strong side, a side we know well.

“After the international break you are never quite sure how things are going to go.

“We are both on the back of a good win and we both have to start again.

“Villa want to attack, they crate chances, they score goals.

“We need to nullify that.”
