Maty Ryan welcomed a change of luck for Seagulls.

Albion picked up a late stoppage-time winner, as well as getting a penalty courtesy of VAR to level the game, and keeper Ryan felt they were overdue decisions falling their way.

Ryan said: “Over the course of the season you get the rub of the green and I don’t think we have had a chance to even it out.

“We have been on the wrong end of it and this goes a long way to evening it out.

“The penalty is a big decision for us and over the course of the season you get some that go for you and some that don’t.

“Thankfully we lifted it after that point and I am so proud of the boys’ character in grit and determination to get over the line.”

Ryan was relieved Seagulls banked a second consecutive home win after the Spurs victory before the international break.

He admitted: “I’m grateful that we got the result in the end. The game was in the balance, it was quite frantic.

“It wasn’t our best performance and credit to Everton as they made it difficult for us.”
