Lea Le Garrec has added her own special strike to the list of golden goals at the Amex.

The Albion playmaker guided home a shot from 25 yards as Hope Powell’s side beat Birmingham City 3-0 before more than 4,000 fans in Barclays FA WSL.

Le Garrec’s strike brought back memories of David Lopez’s classic against Crystal Palace in some respects as it dipped and curled away from the keeper, hit the underside of the bar and bounced behind the line at the South Stand end.

There could be more to come from the former French international.

Le Garrec told The Argus: “It is a bit of a speciality of mine to score from long distance because I’ve got that sort of shot.

“Sometimes they have been flying past the goal but this one went in and that s great for confidence.

“As a No.10, you have to be able to give passes and also score goals.

“The Birmingham girl gave me a gift because she gave me the ball.

“I put myself in a position to shoot and I really wanted to score today.

“I often score my first goal of the season in November – wait two months to give myself time to adapt!”

Le Garrec revealed she saw a clip of her strike at half-time.

She added: “When you are playing you don’t have time to reflect.

“I think it’s a great goal and I prefer when you win.

“If you score and don’t win, for me it’s not so nice."
