Shane Duffy looks set for a rapid rematch with Kasper Schmeichel after suffering a Euro 2020 setback last night.

The Albion defender skippered the Republic of Ireland in their 1-1 draw against Denmark in Dublin.

He appeared to come through unscathed ahead of the Seagulls’ home game against Leicester on Saturday.

Martin Braithwaite scored the goal which ultimately sent the Irish into a play-off, despite Matt Doherty’s late equaliser.

Duffy will be needed to start against Danish keeper Schmeichel and his Leicester colleagues in the absence of Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster.

He said of the Irish near miss: “We gave everything but the win wasn’t there. It’s a hard one to take right now.

“We have to dust ourselves down and do everything we can in March.”

Albion midfielder Tudor Baluta played the full 90 minutes in midfield for Romania as they lost 5-0 to Spain in Madrid.

It has been a tough international break for Romania, who also lost 2-0 to Sweden in Bucharest.

But Baluta will have gained a lot of valuable experience having played the full 90 minutes in both matches.

It is less than two weeks since he was playing at Leyton Orent for Albion under-21s in the Leasings.com Trophy.

On-loan Alexis Mac Allister was again an unused substitute for Argentina as they drew 2-2 with Uruguay.
